Canes Weather the Stampede, Blowout Bulls 49-12
The Miami Hurricanes kept their perfect start intact Saturday, steamrolling the South Florida Bulls 49-12 at Hard Rock Stadium. With the win, Miami improved to 3-0, while USF dropped to 2-1.
The Hurricanes wasted no time setting the tone. Carson Beck engineered back-to-back touchdown drives in the opening quarter as Miami jumped out to a 14-3 lead. After the hour plus long weather delay, the Canes had doubled that margin to 28-6 at the half, showcasing a balanced attack that proved far too much for the Bulls to handle.
Beck was sharp all afternoon, completing 23 of 28 passes for 340 yards and three touchdowns. Despite a pair of interceptions, he kept Miami’s offense humming, spreading the ball to a deep group of receivers led by Joshua Moore (61 yards, 2 TDs) and Keelan Marion (81 yards). On the ground, Mark Fletcher Jr. added 120 rushing yards and two scores, powering a run game that piled up 205 yards.
South Florida struggled to find traction against Miami’s defensive front. Quarterback Byrum Brown threw for 274 yards and a late touchdown but was under constant pressure and added just 2 yards on 13 carries. The Bulls’ rushing attack mustered only 40 yards on 27 attempts, averaging 1.5 per carry, showcasing Miami’s physicality and overall dominance in this matchup.
The Hurricanes’ defense forced two turnovers and held USF to a pair of field goals until the final minutes, when the game was long decided. Junior linebacker Rueben Bain Jr. led the way with six tackles, while Bryce Fitzgerald snagged an interception.
With the win, Miami has now outscored opponents 121-39 through three games, looking every bit like a contender in the ACC. The Canes will face their toughest test yet as they go on a three-week stretch versus the Gators, Noles and Cardinals. That stretch will reveal whether this hot start is smoke or the start of something special.
