It was a busy weekend for the Miami Hurricanes, as campus visitors along with the Battle Miami camp coincided with each other. As we continue to sift through the news of this weekend, one particular receiver has piqued Miami’s interest. 2023 four-star wide receiver Hykeem Williams has an interest in Miami, and the interest is mutual. This news was first reported by Gaby Urrutia of 247Sports.

Williams is the 11^th overall wide receiver in the 2023 class, and the 11^th overall player in his class from the state of Florida per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. His primary recruiter is wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon.

What could he bring to Miami Hurricanes?

Williams measures in at six-foot-three, 195 pounds. He is a very solid outside wide receiver. He is not tremendously quick out of his break, but that’s not his specialty. Williams makes things happen after the catch. Once he has the football in his hands, he can get away from defenders with ease. In that respect, he is an impact playmaker. He is still a tremendous big-play threat, just not initially out of his break.

The Fort Lauderdale native played for Stranahan High School. He caught 31 passes for 693 yards and six touchdowns. in terms of what Miami is trying to recruit at the wide receiver position, he fits exactly the type of play style they are looking for.

Currently, the 2023 Miami recruiting class ranks 44^th nationally and fifth overall in ACC per the 247Sports team rankings. The class only has one commitment at the moment in wide receiver Lamar Seymour.

Pairing Williams with a guy like Seymour could spell very good news for Miami. That would give them to playmakers they could build the class around. If the Hurricanes were able to land this commitment, it would give them two commitments for this class, with much of the recruiting cycle still to go.

The Miami Hurricanes got a little bit of a recruiting update on Wednesday as they made the final cut for 2022 three-star edge defender Jack Pyburn

Pyburn is a member of  the 2022 recruiting class, and has an 86 numerical ranking in the 247Sports rankings. In addition to Miami, Auburn is the other school that is in his final two.

Most recently, he took a visit to Auburn on January 14. He was offered by Miami on January 4.

He finished the 2021 season as a defensive playmaker. He recorded 109 tackles and 15 sacks in 11 games with the Bolles School. In three years of recorded statistics, he finished with 263 total tackles, and 28 sacks.

Measuring in at six-foot-three, 255 pounds, Pyburn has tremendous speed off the edge. As soon as the ball is snapped, he is able to accelerate and make a tackle. In some of the highlights I watched on him, he possessed the same skill set at both edge and linebacker. At the linebacker position, he was able to get by the defensive line with ease.

When he played the edge position, he used his speed to overpower the tackle or whoever was guarding him. A lot of times, you see edge players finesse their way into the backfield with quick movements and strength. Pyburn did that as well, but the speed element was a huge factor in his game.

Currently, the 2022 Miami Hurricanes recruiting class ranks 36th nationally and fifth overall in ACC per the 247Sports Team rankings. Miami has done a nice job of looking for edge defenders for this class. Cyrus Moss would be an example of that. Getting Pyburn would certainly add more depth to the position, and it would give Miami another proverbial tool in the tool chest.

With Miami having  good momentum in terms of recruiting, this would be another nice to get for a program that is looking to trend upward in the Mario Cristobal.

The Miami Hurricanes have been busy recruiting over the last couple of weeks, and they will have an intriguing visitor this weekend. 2023 five-star quarterback Dante Moore is set to visit Coral Gables while in town for the battle Miami event. This news was first reported by Gaby Urrutia of 247Sports.

Moore is the third overall quarterback in the 2023 class, and the top player in his class from the state of Michigan per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He has offers from all of the big-name schools. In addition to Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, and Penn State are just some of the schools that have extended an offer his way. He is the most interested in those four.

Moore completed 177-of-244 passes, throwing for 3047 yards, 40 touchdowns and three interceptions for Martin Luther King High school in Michigan. One of the things that sticks out to me in particular about his game is his pocket presence. He does a very good job of being able to set his feet and identify his read quickly to make the throw.

In addition to just what he can do in the pocket, he also is able to make throws on the run. Primarily, it seems like he wants to stay in the pocket to make his throws, and that is certainly his strength. He also possesses a very good deep ball, and is able to deliver the ball with accuracy. There is a reason why he is a highly-rated quarterback, and it is extremely evident when you look at his tape.

Currently, the Miami Hurricanes’ 2023 recruiting class ranks 45^th in the country and sixth overall in the ACC per the 247Sports team rankings. That will change quickly, as Miami currently only has one commitment in the class. Lamar Seymour is the only player in the class right now. He committed to Miami back on April 16, 2020.

I’m excited that Moore is coming into town. If he is in town for Battle Miami, it’s encouraging that he wants to visit the campus. Who knows if anything will come from it, but he just adds another big name in what is going to be a productive weekend for Miami.

Recruiting news is flying for the Miami Hurricanes. One particular name to watch is 2023 tight end Mac Markway. He is scheduled to visit Miami next Saturday. This news was first reported by Steve Wilfong of 247Sports.

Markway is the fifth overall tight end in the 2023 class, and the third overall player in his class from the state of Missouri per the 247Sports Composite rankings. A four-star recruit, he initially committed to Florida on July 27. He decommitted from the program on December 19.

In addition to Florida, he had 27 offers. Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, and Michigan were just some of the schools that extended one his way. He also received offers from Miami and Oregon.

What would he be able to bring to Miami Hurricanes?

Measuring in at six-foot-four, 250 pounds, Markway plays physically. When I watched some of his highlights, I was impressed with the way he was able to block. That’s not to say he lacks receiving skills, he does very well in that department. He is able to find soft spots in defensive zones, and make possession catches. He has solid hands, and relies on the combination of route running and good hands to make plays.

It seems like he functions really well as somebody that can make things happen after the catch, rather than being a big-play, stretch-the-field tight end. That is certainly not a knock on him. Blockers and intermediate route tight ends are equally as important to the offense.

There are other schools in play for Markway. One of those schools is Iowa. He is scheduled to visit Iowa next Sunday. Due to Iowa’s history of developing tight ends, the Hawkeyes may present a challenge to the Hurricanes. We will have to see how this plays out.
