Miami Strikes Out Again: Kevin Durant Headed to Houston
HOUSTON ROCKETS ACQUIRE KEVIN DURANT FROM PHOENIX SUNS IN BLOCKBUSTER TRADE
After years of speculation, hopes, and near-misses, the Miami Heat have once again come up empty in their pursuit of a superstar. According to Shams Charania, the Phoenix Suns are trading Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets in a blockbuster deal: Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft, and five second-rounders are heading to Phoenix in return.
Miami had long been considered a potential destination for Durant, but once again, another star slips through Pat Riley’s fingers. Concerns about KD’s age, defense, and durability clearly didn’t deter Houston — a young, ascending team now landing one of the league’s most prolific scorers.
For the Heat, it’s another frustrating chapter in their post-Bubble quest to return to title contention. Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro are strong pieces, but Miami’s lack of star power continues to haunt them in late-game situations.
Erik Spoelstra still runs a top-tier program — but without a major talent infusion, it’s hard to see Miami breaking through. Once again, Heat fans are left to wonder what could’ve been.
