Miami Hurricanes vs. Florida A&M Prediction & How To Watch

The No. 7 Miami Hurricanes return to Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday night for their 2026 home opener, and after an impressive season-opening win over Stanford, Miami has a chance to make another statement against Florida A&M.

Miami enters the matchup looking for its 20th consecutive win in a home opener. The Hurricanes also have a significant advantage in the all-time series against FAMU. Florida A&M won the first meeting between the programs, 16-13, in Tallahassee in 1979. Since then, however, Miami has won 11 straight games against the Rattlers, outscoring them 567-68 in those contests.

Thursday’s game also comes with an unusual twist. Florida A&M has already played at Hard Rock Stadium this season, losing to South Carolina State in the Orange Blossom Classic on Sunday. Just a few days later, the Rattlers will return to the stadium to face a Miami team ranked No. 7 in the country.

Darian Mensah and Malachi Toney were among Miami’s biggest standouts in the victory over Stanford, and the Hurricanes have a significant advantage in both talent and depth. This is the type of matchup where Miami should be able to take control early and create an opportunity to get younger players valuable experience.

That could also mean another opportunity for Luke Nickel. Nickel saw action against Stanford and threw an interception, but if Miami builds a comfortable lead, the redshirt freshmen quarterback could see more meaningful snaps. A big lead would allow the Hurricanes to evaluate their depth while giving younger players valuable game experience.

I expect Miami’s starters to control the game early before the Hurricanes begin turning to their reserves in the second half. Miami should be able to move the ball consistently, establish the run, force turnovers and dominate at the line of scrimmage.

This should be a statement home opener for the Hurricanes. Miami has too much talent and depth for Florida A&M to consistently compete, and I expect the Hurricanes to build a commanding lead before halftime.

The second half should become an opportunity for Miami to showcase its depth and give players like Nickel and other reserves additional playing time. The Hurricanes should cruise to a 70-6 victory and enter the rest of the season with another dominant performance under their belt.
