Three Keys to a Miami Dolphins Week One Victory in Vegas

The Miami Dolphins finally return to action after a busy, busy offseason. It was an offseason where the Dolphins experienced a lot of change. They turn a new page on the most important position in all of professional sports as Malik Willis comes from Green Bay along with Jeff Hafley and Jon-Eric Sullivan to lead this new era od Dolphins Football.

Whill all eyes won’t be in the win/loss column, the players and staff alike want to win football games, and that is always the goal. So how can they start this new era off in the win column?

Dominate The Ground Game

A lot of the Dolphins success this season offensively will come from the back of Devon Achane. But they also bring a quarterback in Malik Willis who is dual threat, something the Dolphins haven’t had in quite some time (if ever). The Dolphins offensive line looks to be pretty strong this season on the backs of Patrick Paul and Aaron Brewer, while adding Kaydn Proctor kicks Jonah Savaiinea back to right guard, and based off of training camp reports it seems to be working. When healthy Austin Jackson provides the Dolphins stability on the right side as well.

Outside zones will be crucial for the Dolphins against the Raiders and should help open up the play action against a Raiders team that’s in the same boat.

Contain Ashton Jeanty

Listen, the Raiders offense is bad. For all the talk about the Dolphins wide receivers and offense, it won’t be their problem. But it is definitely the Raiders, at least until Brock Bowers gets back. The Raiders best receiver is Tre Tucker and the wide receivers won’t be too much for the Dolphins with Kirk Cousins at quarterback. So the goal is to contain the second-year player out of Boise State. If Jeanty has a big game, the Raiders likely won this one.

Start Fast, Play Disciplined

One of the things we will be looking for this season is how a Jeff Hafley led football team plays. That starts in the penalty department, the Dolphins can’t shoot themselves in the foot in this one, and starting fast would take all the pressure off of this new unit, forcing the Dolphins to play loose and free, while also forcing Vegas to pass.

Brock Bowers being ruled out in this contest swings the game back in the Dolphins favor, and they won’t have a problem scoring on this Raiders defense. So this week is about the Dolphins establishing their new brand of football, and if they follow these three keys they will walk away 1-0.
