Takeaways from Panthers’ 5-3 win over Oilers

SUNRISE — The Florida Panthers continued their dominance at home on Monday night, defeating the Edmonton Oilers 5-3, improving their record at Amerant Bank Arena to 7-1-0.

The Panthers fared well against the Oilers, despite the absence of their captain Aleksander Barkov (lower-body). Florida moves to 12-5-1 on the season, as they still sit second in the Atlantic Division, third in the Eastern Conference.

Sergei Bobrovsky had 25 saves in his ninth win of the season, stopping all 10 shots he faced in the third period.

Here’s tonight’s takeaways.

Niko Mikkola gets two goals, first-star of the game

In a game with top goal scorers like Connor McDavid, Sam Reinhart, Leon Draisailt and Carter Verhaeghe, it’s only right that 6’5 defenseman Niko Mikkola scored the most goals for the Panthers.

Mikkola, who had one goal in 17 games prior to Monday night, scored twice in what was his first career multi-goal game.

His first goal of the night knotted things up at 2-2, 15:53 into the third period. With the Panthers trailing, he would score again, tying the game 6:08 into the second.

Mikkola didn’t end up getting the third goal — which would have made him just the second defenseman in Panthers history  to hit that milestone (Mark Pysk, 2020), but he would finish the night as the first-star.

“Well, that (three goals) would be maybe too much for me,” Mikkola laughed. “Maybe if there’s a chance to shoot it at the empty net I would take it. I’ll take two for sure”

Mikkola now has three goals on the season — tying his previous career-high — which he set in 2021-2022 with the Blues.

Three-point night for Kevin Stenlund

Florida was without their captain Aleksander Barkov, who is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Missing their No. 1 center, Florida had to do some line juggling. As a result, Kevin Stenlund jumped up to center the third line.

Stenlund would finish with a team-high three points (1-2-3) on Monday, including the game-winning goal.

Even with the multi-point performance, Panthers coach Paul Maurice highlighted Stenlund’s play away from the puck.

“I thought he played great defensively,” Maurice said. “I would say that the best play [he made] was round the back post on the kill. That’s what he has to be elite at.”

Stenlund has been a good depth acquisition for the Panthers. The 27-year-old has seven points in 18 games (5-2-7).

Party in the sin bin

Those who are fans of a calm, quiet game of hockey — tonight was not that night.

Edmonton and Florida only see each other twice a season, and besides a few former Calgary Flames on the Panthers’ side of the ice, this is no Battle of Alberta.

Despite the lack of historical unpleasantries between the two sides, Monday’s game saw a ton of post-whistle interactions, a fight, seven power plays and 46 total penalty minutes.

Tensions were going all night, and both teams could feel it.

“Obviously they have a lot of skill over there and they’re desperate for some wins. But we have a group that wants to compete every night,” said Jonah Gadjovich, who got into a fight in his first home game as a Panther. “We know where we want to be and how we have to play, that’s what we come here to do.”

As for the chippiness in the game and how quickly the two sides felt it, Gajovich said it was “right from the puck drop.”

The Oilers would go 0-3 with the man-advantage. The Panthers were successful on their first powerplay, finishing the night 1-4.

Panthers notes

Florida plays their next two games at home: Wednesday night against the Bruins and Friday night against the Jets.

Ryan Lomberg played in his 200th career game on Monday night.

Ekblad and Montour make season debut, Barkov leaves game with injury in Panthers’ 2-1 win over Ducks

Aaron Ekblad, Brandon Montour and Jonah Gadjovich all made their season debut Friday night, Anthony Stolarz had 34 saves against his former team and the Florida Panthers beat the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 at the Honda Center.

Eetu Luostarinen and Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored as the Panthers won for the sixth time in seven games. Anton Lundell picked up two assists and was voted first-star of the game.

“I thought Lundy and Luosty had an unbelievable game tonight,” Ekman-Larsson said.

Ekblad and Montour had been recovering from offseason surgeries after they were injured in Florida’s run to the Stanley Cup Final last season — both were activated earlier today.

“We (Ekblad and Montour) went through five months of pretty gruelling rehab to get back to this point,” Ekblad said to Bally Sports rinkside reporter Katie Engleson postgame. “It was tough, it was a long road, it’s very sweet to get back into the lineup.

Jonah Gadjovich, who was also injured through the offseason, made his Panthers debut in Anaheim after returning today from an LTIR conditioning stint in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers.

Panthers’ captain Aleksander Barkov left the game early in the third period after taking a knee-on-knee hit from Ducks Jackson LaCombe. LaCombe was originally assessed as a five-minute major before it was downgraded to a two-minute minor for tripping. Barkov did not return to the game.

Panthers coach Paul Maurice couldn’t provide an update on Barkov’s injury post-game.

“We got to get him back [to Florida] and get him looked at,” Maurice said. “Then, we’ll see from there.”

Barkov has had a great start to the season, averaging a point-per-game while driving the play at both ends of the ice for Florida. Anytime without their captain would be a major blow to this team — who seemed to finally get healthy with the return of Ekblad and Montour today, and Sam Bennett last week.

Radko Gudas, who spent the past three seasons with the Panthers, was reacquainted with his former teammates for the first time since signing with the Ducks in the offseason. Gudas was a key player on the Panthers blueline during the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Anaheim trailed 2-0 for the entirety of the second period — not getting on the board until later in the third.

Former Panther Frank Vatrano broke the ice for Anaheim, scoring  his 12th goal of the season, 7:39 into the final period of regulation.

The Ducks best period of the night was in the third. Following the Vatrano goal, Anaheim picked up their pace, outshooting the Panthers 15-3 in the final 20 minutes of play.

Stolarz came up big down the stretch for the Panthers, winning his second game in four days. He is now  3-1-0 in his four starts this season.

“He was, I think our best player,” Anton Lundell said about Stolarz. “We needed some big saves in key moments and we got them today from him.”

After going 2-1-0 on their California road trip, the Panthers improve to 11-5-1 on the season. They’ll return to Sunrise for three-straight home games.

How Is Technology Shaping the Sports Betting Industry

Sports betting is one of the internet’s most profitable industries. More casinos and betting sites are open than ever before. If you are interested in betting or want to start your own betting site, there are a few important things that you need to know. This post’s intention is to tell you what these are so that you can either immerse yourself in the exciting world of online gaming without any stress or start your own website and generate a stable, sizable income for yourself. Keep reading to find out more.

Management Software

This first point is one that is only relevant to people who are interested in starting their own bookmaking businesses. According to the experts from https://www.vippayperhead.co, making software can make it much easier to manage your online betting site. You’ll be able to monitor customer bets in one place, keeping everything orderly and easy to maintain. If you want to start a successful betting site, you are most definitely going to need book making software. If you do not have book making software to hand, there is no way you’re going to manage all of the bets that come in. To find book making software, conduct a simple Internet search. Once you have found software that you think is worth using, make sure that you read its reviews. A software product review can tell you everything you need to know about it and help you to get a clear idea as to how effective its service is.

Live Betting

Live betting is something else that is revolutionizing the online gambling industry. People no longer have to leave bets in absentia. Gamblers are able to bet live whilst games are taking place. Live betting has never been more popular than it is today and that has a lot to do with the fact that more people are using the Internet than ever before. Because so many people are using the Internet, people want to play engaging casino games. Of course, a distinction does need to be made in that live games tend only to casino games. Games that one would bet on are already live and can be watched in real time. If you want to run a betting site and not a casino, you can make it more engaging by offering live screenings on your website and allowing people to watch in a lounge where they can talk to and communicate with other real people.

Digital Tournaments

Digital poker tournaments have never been more popular than they are today. If you want to start gambling or you want to run a gambling site, digital poker tournaments are worth looking into. Poker tournaments are of course a form of live gambling. Poker tournaments attract lots of gamblers because poker is a game that is a game of skill and chance. Because it is a game of skill and chance it gives players the opportunity to increase their chances of winning by conducting extensive online research and training themselves. You can make large amounts of money for yourself by hosting digital tournaments or conversely, you can make money by playing in them.

If you are planning on getting involved in casino gaming or you just want to start a casino, make sure that you read through the things mentioned here. If you do, you’ll be able to more effectively leverage technology and use it to your advantage. Incorporating technology into your sites management will help to ensure it is one people enjoy playing on.

Bobrovsky starts tonight against Kings, Ekblad and Montour could return tomorrow against Ducks

Sergei Bobrovsky will get his 13th start of the season tonight as the Florida Panthers enter Thursday’s road matchup against the Los Angeles Kings riding a five-game win streak.

Panthers coach Paul Maurice said today that the only lineup change would be in net, with Bobrovsky coming back in for Anthony Stolarz, who started Tuesday night in San Jose.

The Panthers (10-4-1)  are currently third in the Eastern Conference, second in the Atlantic Division.

The Kings (8-3-3) are fifth in the Western Conference, third in the Pacific Division.

Tonight’s game will be the first half of a back-to-back against the Southern California teams for the Panthers — they’ll face the Ducks tomorrow night.

With the back-to-back, it would not be a surprise if Florida goes back to Anthony Stolarz on Friday in Anaheim. Stolarz spent the past four seasons with the Ducks organization before signing with Florida this offseason.

Ekblad, Montour Update

Defensemen Brandon Montour and Aaron Ekblad are both on the California road-trip and have been skating with the team for over two weeks now. The pair haven’t played this season as they both were recovering from offseason surgery.

While they aren’t in the lineup tonight, Montour and Ekblad are very close to returning and could potentially play tomorrow, per Maurice — which would be ahead of the mid-December timeline that was originally set out for them in the offseason.

“We’ll make a decision on whether they play tomorrow,”  Maurice said. “It’s that soon now.”

Projected Lines for tonight

Rodrigues – Barkov – Reinhart

Luostarinen – Lundell – Cousins

Verhaeghe Scores 100th Career Goal, Panthers Begin California Road Trip With Fifth-Straight Win

The Florida Panthers kicked off their three-game California road trip on the right track, defeating the San Jose Sharks 5-3 at the SAP Center Tuesday night.

Here’s some updates from last night’s late west-coast game in case you missed it.

— Florida had five different goal scorers Tuesday night; Ryan Lomberg, Sam Reinhart, Carter Verhaeghe, Kevin Stenlund and Aleksander Barkov.

— Carter Verhaeghe’s game-tying goal in the third period was the 100th of his career. The 28-year-old has seven goals on the season.

— Sam Reinhart had a goal and an assist against the Sharks, extending his point-streak to five games. Reinhart has scored at least two-points in each of the past five games. He leads the Panthers in scoring with 23 points.

—  Anthony Stolarz, had 19 saves on 22 shots in his second win of the season. The Panthers’ backup goalie has a 2-1-0 record this season.

— Florida won their fifth-straight game, improving their record to 10-4-1. They are third in the Eastern Conference (Boston, New York Rangers).

— Sam Reinhart, Aleksander Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk and Carter Verhaeghe all had two points Tuesday night.

— Florida scored twice on the power play. This is only the second time all season they’ve converted more than once with the man-advantage (Nov. 12 vs Chicago).

— The Panthers will make the short trip from San Jose to LA for a back-to-back in Southern California. They’ll face the Kings on Thursday and the Ducks on Friday.

— Sergei Bobrovsky, who got the night off in San Jose, will most likely get the start against LA.

— Friday’s matchup against Anaheim will be the first time Ducks defenseman Radko Gudas faces his former team. Gudas, 33, spent the last three seasons with the Panthers. Former Panther Frank Vatrano is also with the Ducks.

Week 11 NFL Power Rankings: Cowboys Rising

What looked like a horrible slate of matchups on paper turned out to be one of the best weekends of this NFL season.

Ten of the 14 games played ended up coming down to the last possession. There were a total of six game-winning field goals that included the Browns, Texans, Cardinals, Lions, Seahawks and Broncos.

And then looking at the other end of the spectrum, there were a couple of games that weren’t particularly close at all.

The Dallas Cowboys put on a clinic as they torched the New York Giants 49-17. Dak Prescott does not deserve the hate he receives and he really did silence the critics as he threw for 404 yards and four touchdowns. He also had a rushing touchdown.

Ceedee Lamb has made a case to be one of the league’s best receivers. He had 11 catches for 151 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s win. The Cowboys are dangerous and if their offense can be consistent, watch out.

Another blowout that happened in the NFL was between the 49ers and Jaguars. San Francisco beat the Jaguars 34-3 in a game that was never even close, which was very surprising.

San Francisco’s addition of Chase Young was a game changer and their defensive line is not even fair at this point. The Niners had five sacks on Sunday and allowed just three points to a good Jacksonville offense. Brock Purdy finally played a good game, throwing for 296 yards and three touchdowns. After a three-game skid, it looks like the Niners have come back to life.

And let’s talk about the quarterbacks that keep on turning heads week after week. C.J. Stroud and Joshua Dobbs who play for the Texans and Vikings, respectively.

Stroud is not only a lock for Offensive Rookie of the Year, but he has now entered MVP territory. Of course, barring any miracles, it’s not likely that he’ll win it, but he’s been thriving in this Houston Texans offense.

Houston went into Cincinnati and pulled off a 30-27 upset victory. Stroud threw for 356 yards and a touchdown. Houston’s ground game was excellent as running back Devin Singletary had 30 carries for 150 yards and a touchdown. And considering that the Bengals had won three games in a row against high quality opponents speaks volumes to how good Houston actually might be.

Now for Dobbs, he is not afraid of anything thrown his way. New offense? No problem. New team? No problem. It does not matter to him and he very well could bring the Vikings into the postseason, especially with star receiver Justin Jefferson nearing his return.

On Sunday against a stingy Saints defense, Dobbs threw for 268 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 44 yards and scoring on the ground. His favorite target was undoubtedly, T.J. Hockenson, who had 11 catches for 134 yards and a touchdown.

If Minnesota can get their running back play in check, they can be a real dark horse in the NFC.

Despite the Miami Dolphins being on a bye week, they still found a way to win. The Patriots, Jets and Bills each lost which means that Miami is sitting comfortably on top of the AFC East.

The Patriots and Jets losses were sort of expected but the Buffalo Bills have really spiraled out of control.

Buffalo lost at home on Monday Night Football against the Broncos 24-22 on a night where they turned the ball over four times. I’m surprised that the Broncos had to kick a game-winning field goal because the Bills were constantly shooting themselves in the foot.

Just like that, Buffalo is 5-5 and if they can’t get it together, it might be time to blow it up.

What is the Easiest Sport to Predict in Betting?

In sports betting, certain games show more predictable patterns than others. Statistical analysis and historical data contribute to the perception of predictability in sports outcomes, shaping betting strategies.

Understanding Sports Betting

Before getting into specifics, and trying to find anything close to easy sports betting, it’s essential to grasp the basics of sports betting. It involves predicting sports results and placing a wager on the outcome on betting sites. The nature of sports betting varies by sport, with different factors influencing each one’s predictability.

Factors Affecting Predictability in Sports

Several factors influence the predictability of a sport. These include the nature of the sport, available statistical data, and the extent of unpredictability inherent in the sport.

Nature of the Sport

Some sports are inherently more predictable due to their structured nature. Sports with fewer variables and more consistent playing conditions tend to offer more predictable outcomes.

Statistical Data Availability

Sports with extensive, accessible statistical data allow for more informed predictions. This data includes historical performance, player statistics, and team dynamics.

Inherent Unpredictability

Certain sports are more unpredictable due to variables like weather conditions, individual player performance, and team dynamics.

Identifying the Easiest Sport to Predict

Given these factors, certain sports stand out as more predictable. This section identifies and explains why these sports are considered easier for betting predictions.

Tennis

Tennis is often viewed as a predictable sport for betting. The reasons include:

  • Individual Performance: Tennis depends heavily on individual players, making it easier to analyze performance.
  • Consistent Playing Conditions: Indoor courts provide consistent playing environments, reducing unpredictability.

Basketball

Basketball, particularly at the professional level, is known for its predictability. Factors contributing to this include:

  • High Scoring Nature: The frequent scoring in basketball reduces the impact of a single score on the game’s outcome.
  • Statistical Analysis: Extensive player and team statistics are available for basketball, aiding in prediction.

Football

Football, while having more variables, can still be predictable. The predictability comes from:

  • Team Dynamics: Understanding a team’s strategy and dynamics can aid in making accurate predictions.
  • Player Performance Data: Detailed player statistics can be used to predict performance in upcoming matches.
  • By simply following and logging individual and team achievements, you can start to recognize patterns that influence match outcomes. Having a grasp on XG stats in football will reveal how often teams create high-quality chances rather than relying solely on final scores. This deeper insight supports more informed predictions and a clearer understanding of underlying performance trends.

Betting Strategies

To maximize betting success, employ strategies that consider the sport’s predictability. These strategies include:

  • Focusing on one sport: Specializing in one sport can improve prediction accuracy.
  • Utilizing statistical data: Leveraging available data can lead to more informed decisions.

Fastest Payout Sportsbooks

When engaging in sports betting, it’s essential to choose the right platform. Fastest payout sportsbooks provide a reliable and efficient way to access your winnings. Selecting a reputable platform ensures a better betting experience.

Advanced Techniques in Sports Betting

Analyzing Team and Player Form

Successful betting requires a keen analysis of team and player form. This involves studying recent performances, injuries, and overall team morale. In sports like football and basketball, understanding the form can significantly impact betting outcomes.

Importance of Understanding Odds

Odds in sports betting represent the likelihood of an event occurring. Grasping how odds are calculated and what they represent is important. Higher odds indicate a lower probability of the event happening but offer higher returns. Understanding this balance is key to successful betting.

Betting Markets and Options

Different sports offer various betting markets and options. These can range from simple win-lose bets to more complex bets like handicaps and over/under scores. Familiarizing yourself with these options in your chosen sport can provide more opportunities for successful betting.

Risk Management in Sports Betting

Setting a Budget

One of the fundamental aspects of betting is managing your finances responsibly. Setting a budget and sticking to it is essential. This helps in avoiding significant losses and ensures that betting remains a fun and enjoyable activity.

Understanding the Risks

Every bet carries a risk. Recognizing this and being prepared for both wins and losses is paramount. Responsible betting means understanding that not every bet will result in a win and being prepared to accept losses.

Diversifying Bets

Diversifying your betting portfolio can help manage risk. Instead of placing all your budget on a single bet, spreading it across different bets can increase the chances of winning while reducing the risk of significant losses.

The Psychological Aspect of Sports Betting

Emotional Control

Betting can be an emotional activity. Maintaining control over your emotions, especially after a loss, is vital. Emotional betting often leads to irrational decisions and increased losses.

Avoiding Bias

It’s common for bettors to have favorite teams or players, but this bias can lead to poor betting decisions. Betting should be based on analysis and data, not personal preferences or loyalties.

Learning from Losses

Losses are inevitable in betting, but they can be valuable learning experiences. Analyzing why a bet didn’t work out and using that knowledge in future bets can improve your betting strategy.

Conclusion

Predicting sports outcomes for betting involves understanding the sport’s nature, utilizing available data, and considering inherent unpredictability. While certain sports like tennis, basketball, and football are more predictable, employing effective betting strategies is key to success. Remember, choosing the right platform, like the fastest payout sportsbooks, plays a vital role in your betting journey.

Takeaways from Panthers 4-3 win over Blackhawks

SUNRISE — The Florida Panthers picked up their fourth-straight win Sunday afternoon, defeating the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 at Amerant Bank Arena.

Florida is now 6-1 on home ice this season, improving their overall record to 9-4-1.

Here’s this afternoon’s takeaways.

Sam Reinhart can’t stop scoring

Florida’s leading scorer Sam Reinhart continued his dominant start to the season on Sunday.

The Panthers forward finished the day with four points (2 goals, 2 assists) — tying his career-high. He also extended his point-streak to four games.

After Sunday’s game, the 28-year-old has 21 points in 16 games, pushing him into the top-10 in league wide scoring.

“He’s incredible,” Sam Bennett said when asked about Reinhart. “He’s one of those guys that have really stepped up and he’s part of the reason why our team is doing so well right now.”

The first-star of the game honors evidently went to Reinhart.

Connor Bedard makes his presence felt in the Sunshine State

The hockey world knew this summer’s first-overall pick Connor Bedard was a special talent.

In Chicago’s previous game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Bedard had a breakout game, picking up four points en route to a 5-3 win.

After a quick trip down from Tampa to Sunrise, Bedard gave fans in attendance another performance worthy of the first-overall pick.

Despite the loss, Bedard scored twice for the Blackhawks, further extending his lead in rookie scoring to 13 points in as many games.

“He’s got an unbelievable release, his ability to change angles,” Paul Maurice said about Bedard. “The goals that he scored against us were not great angle goals, but they’re still really good shots… he’s going to score an awful lot of those.”

Bedard has 9 goals on the season.

Panthers score on the power play, twice

When Florida gets an opportunity to go on the powerplay, it hasn’t always been a successful man-advantage this season. Entering Sunday’s game, the Panthers were near the bottom of the league on power-play, scoring just five goals (12.5 percent) in 13 games.

The Panthers went to the power play four times on Sunday and they walked away with their most successful outing this season, scoring twice.

Sam Reinhart scored Florida’s first power play goal 11:54 into the first period, his fourth on the man-advantage this season.

Carter Verhaeghe would score the other power play goal and eventual game winner 2:44 into the third period.

With the final score coming down to just one goal, the multi-goal performance on special teams ended up being the difference for the Panthers today. This was the first game all season where the Panthers scored more than once on the power play.

Sam Bennett returns for his first ‘full game’

The Panthers have been getting results this season and they’ve done it while missing a few of their key players.

Florida was without Sam Bennett for the first seven games of the season as he was dealing with a lower-body injury.

He made his season debut on Oct. 30 against the Boston Bruins, but only ended up playing eight minutes, as he had to leave the game with a lower-body injury.

“You never want to be out, especially when I thought I was going to be back playing again,” Bennett said on Sunday. “It was tough there for a while  but I was able to rehab and come back a lot quicker than I was expecting. Happy to be feeling good now.”

In his return to the lineup, Bennett played 16:51 in what was his first full game of the season.

GAME NOTES

Florida will be on the road for their next three games as they head to California for a west coast trip against the Sharks, Kings and Ducks.

Their next home game will be Monday, Nov. 20 against the Edmonton Oilers.

Takeaways from Panthers 5-2 win over Hurricanes

SUNRISE — The Florida Panthers continued their winning ways on Friday night, defeating the Carolina Hurricanes 5-2 at Amerant Bank Arena.

The Panthers have won three-straight games as they improve to 8-4-1 on the season.

Here’s tonight’s takeaways.

Uvis Balinskis scores his first NHL goal

27-year-old Uvis Balinskis thought his chance to play in the NHL wouldn’t come at this stage in his career. After leaving Europe this offseason to sign with the Panthers this offseason, Balinskis officially made his NHL debut in October.

“This is my only chance,” Balinskis said when reflecting on his journey to the NHL today.

The Latvian defenseman started the first 10 games of the season before being healthy scratched in the past two games.

Back in the lineup tonight, Balinskis would hit a major career milestone — scoring his first NHL goal.

With 1:07 left in the first period, Matthew Tkachuk fed Balinskis backdoor, putting the Panthers up 2-1 just before the first intermission.

“Everybody was happy for me,” Balinskis said about his teammates reaction to the goal. “Everybody was telling me I got to score one and it finally happened.”

Balinskis said post game that his phone was full of messages after scoring his first goal.

Florida’s first-line keeps producing

The Panthers’ top-line of Sam Reinhart, Aleksander Barkov and Evan Rodrigues have been great together this season.

One game removed from the trio each picking up two points in Washington, they were back on the scoresheet Friday night.

7:08 into the second period, Barkov would widen the Panthers lead to two with his fifth goal of the season. Reinhart and Rodrigues would pick up the assists.

“It’s easy with those two guys, they’re really smart players,” Barkov said about Reinhart and Rodrigues. “They don’t have any weaknesses in their games… I’m really lucky to play with them right now.”

Barkov and Reinhart would also pick up assists on Kevin Stenlund’s empty net goal.

Reinhart leads the Panthers in scoring with 17 points in 13 games, while Barkov is second on the team with 14. Rodrigues isn’t too far off himself with 11 points.

Matthew Tkachuk has another big game against Carolina

Besides Sergei Bobrovsky, nobody was a  bigger thorn in Carolina’s side than Matthew Tkachuk was last postseason. In last season’s Eastern Conference Finals, Tkachuk had 5 points in four games against the Hurricanes — including three game-winning goals.

In their first matchup since that playoff series, Tkachuk didn’t miss a beat, picking up two points (goal, assist), en route to the Panthers 5-2 win.

“He does accelerate in these games,” Paul Maurice said. “He doesn’t care about points, he just wants to win hockey games. But it’s good that he gets a positive result.”

After Carolina’s Jesperi Kotkaniemi scored just 1:20 into the game, Tkachuk would answer back less than two  minutes later — tying things up at 1-1. He would also pick up the primary assist on Balinskis’ go-ahead 2-1 goal later in the period.

Tkachuk is at a point-per-game through 13 this season, and is third overall on the team in scoring.

Florida’s next game is at home Sunday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. against the Chicago Blackhawks.
