Miami Hurricanes land four-star RB TreVonte’ Citizen

The Miami Hurricanes started off National Signing Day with a bang. Wednesday, they landed 2022 four-star running back TreVonte’ Citizen.

Citizen was the ninth overall running back in the 2022 class, and the 10th overall player in his class from the state of Louisiana per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

247Sports Crystal Ball did not predict him going to Miami whatsoever. Most of the predictions had him going to either LSU or Florida.

Measuring in at 6 feet, 217 pounds, Citizen is a talented running back. One of the things I noticed when watching his film was his ability to immediately hit holes and make things happen once he got into the open field. As soon as the ball is snapped, he is not afraid to use his explosiveness in order to find room to run.

Citizen is very decisive when it comes to reading the gaps off the line. He does not hesitate when he hits a hole. Instead, he just goes after it and attacks. He has a good burst of speed when he takes the initial handoff. He then shifts into a second gear once he is able to find the open field.

At the time his recruitment, he has several offers on the table. Auburn, LSU, Florida, and Texas were just some of the programs to extend offers his way. Ultimately, he chose Miami.

Playing for Lake Charles College Prep last season, he rushed the ball 65 times for 743 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Kevin Smith has really made it a point to try and improve the running back position. Serving as Citizen’s primary recruiter, he has landed another big-time player for the running back room.

Currently, the 2022 Miami Hurricanes recruiting class ranks 19th overall nationally and fourth overall in the ACC per the 247Sports composite rankings. With a new coaching staff in the fold, having a class that ranks this highly is certainly encouraging.

In what has been and up-and-down day for the Miami Hurricanes, this was certainly one of the better pieces of news.
